​Have you gotten your commemorative Roxboro Presbyterian Church 125 Anniversary Christmas ornament? They are only $10 and will make a wonderful addition to your holiday decorating! 

​As you know, our special 125th Anniversary service is this coming Sunday, June 25th.  The headcount of RSVP’s is already over 160, and continues to grow!  Worship will be led by current and former pastors including Pastor Evan, Dr. Mickey Efird, Rev. Ken Davis, and Rev. Andy James (from the New Hope Presbytery.)  Our sermon will be given by Rev. Neil Dunnavant, from First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, the church whose pastor came to Roxboro to begin Roxboro Presbyterian 125 years ago.  We have former choir members returning to RPC to re-join the choir this weekend, as well as new choir members joining for the first time.  And after worship, we will have a catered lunch, and a special time for sharing memories and fellowship.  Many thanks to Leigh Woodall and the members of the 125th Anniversary Planning Committee for ALL their hard work organizing this weekend’s festivities!
 
A few reminders for Sunday:

• Beth Townsend will be taking pictures of families and other groups in our church garden, beginning at 10:00am. The pictures will go into the Time Capsule our Youth are preparing.  They will also be used to update the photos on the downstairs bulletin board.
• Don’t forget to write down your favorite memories about Roxboro Presbyterian, and bring them to church so they can be included in the Time Capsule too.  Carolyn Woodall will be collecting them on Sunday.
• With so many people coming, parking may be tight.  Please try to leave the spaces along Lamar Street (next to the sidewalk between the garden and the front of the sanctuary) available for congregation members and guests who may have difficulty walking from further away.

 

Riley Oakley (6/12, Marilyn Chester (6/15), and Mary Tucker (6/16) are all celebrating birthdays this week. If you see them, be sure to wish them well!!

Update on 6/11/17 - A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 15 to celebrate and give thanks to God for Russell's life. The service will begin at 11 a.m. at Roxboro Presbyterian Church and will be officiated by Rev. Evan Walker.

The Service will be followed by refreshments and time for Fellowship in the church’s Fellowship Hall.  Russell’s family requests that any memorial donations be given to the Roxboro Presbyterian Church, or to the church’s Linda Leigh Slaughter Scholarship Fund.  The mailing address for both is: Roxboro Presbyterian Church,  PO Box 419, Roxboro, NC  27573.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Russell E. Newell, Jr. He passed away on June 5 at Pruitt Health Care Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sea Level, NC. Russell was 84 years old.

We give thanks to God for Russell's life, and rejoice that he was welcomed in peace by our Lord. We will provide updated information about a memorial service as soon as plans become available.
