Jesus invites us to consider what we spend so much time and energy searching after. Is it of eternal value?
John 1:38 "What are you looking for?"
John 18:4, 7 and 20:15 "Whom are you looking for?"
We begin a sermon series this week examining the questions that Jesus asks. We are invited to wrestle with these questions throughout the week.
Luke 2:49 "Why were you searching for me?"
Wednesday Night Dinner on February 8 at 5:30 pm.
Joining with many churches, we participate in the "Souper Bowl of Caring". All donations will benefit the those in need within our community. Donations may include canned soup, crackers, and/or monetary.
Menu features a variety of soups and deserts.
All are welcome! Please RSVP through the church office.
Special thanks to everyone who helped out at the church during the snow and cold – including Mark Harrill, Jim DeVillier, Betty Hale, and Evan who cooked and camped out during the two nights the Community Warming Center was open here at RPC (Sunday night and Monday night); Jimmy Dallas who made arrangements to have the parking lots cleared; and Pat Cobb who began work “Un-Hanging the Greens” and packing away Christmas decorations during the week!
There will be a free Family Movie Night on Friday, January 20 hosted by the "Tri-Neighbor Churches" (RPC, Warren's Gove UMC, and First Baptist Church). The movie will be Disney's "Zootopia". The event will be held at First Baptist Church (14 Main Circle) at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited!
Due to unsafe road conditions, Sunday School and 11:00 Worship Service are cancelled for tomorrow, Sunday, January 8th. Monday, January 9th activities are cancelled as well.
And one last note…..because the temperatures are predicted to be below 10 degrees on Sunday night (into Monday morning), the “Community Warming Center” will be open to those who do not have warm shelter or cannot afford utilities to stay warm that night. And this time, Roxboro Presbyterian is scheduled to be the site of Sunday night’s Warming Center. Cots have already been delivered. We are working with representatives from Warren’s Grove United Methodist and First Baptist Church to have soup/chili for an evening meal, and food for breakfast. If you would like to help, either by providing food, bringing games/entertainment, or by taking a shift staying with those who are spending the night at the church, please contact Pastor Evan or Jim DeVillier.
